DETECTION
OVERVIEW

The iMCAD combines three optical sensors into one integrated enclosure to provide standoff chemical detection with enhanced situational awareness. These seonsors include a FTIR spectrimeter for chemical detection / identification and both an IR camera and a visible camera for panorama field-of-regard imaging. The chmical detection results are overlaid on a panorama image display (either visible, IR, or a blended visible/IR panorama image) and also reported on a map display.

Every environment contains naturally-occurring themal infrared radiation. This radiation interacts with vapor clouds of interest by absorption and emission at specific wavelengths. A passive, eyesafe Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer measures spectral characteristics, which is subsequently compared to a known library of chemical agents to find detections.

Operators can use pre-programmed field-of-regard scanning patterns, user-defined patterns, or control the iMCAD pan-and-tilt scanner manually. Custom scan patterns can easily be created. iMCADView GUI software is designed to integrate information from multiple iMCAD sensors. A single iMCAD produces sufficient data to create a directional display. Triangulaion of data from multiple sensors may be used determine additional information.
